Description: Creating and editing content types is pretty simple. Follow the steps below to help you out.


Software Version: 17.20.xxxxx


You must have Administrative Rights to edit content types. Make sure the user logging into Docstar is an Admin User. 


1) You need to click on the Admin Tab > and click Content Type Builder:


2) A window will pop up looking like this:


This is where you'll Create and Edit a Content Type. To create a new one, you simply need to enter the name of the Content Type you want in the box that says "Content Type: -- New --"



Next you will need to set the Security Class for this Content Type. You will need to set it in two spots:

Botton

Lastly, it will need a Workflow attached to it. Most customers like to have their Workflow and Content Type have the same name. It makes it simple for everyone.


Once you are satisfied, you can hit save.


How to Edit a Content Type


Editing the name of a Content Type: You will just need to select the content type you are changing the name of and just start typing the new name or removing words. Then you will want to save.


Deleting a Content Type: Select your content type, hit the little ex next to the name


A new message appears. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO EASILY ACCESS YOUR DOCUMENTS.

You will want to select a new Content Type to move those documents to. This makes it a lot easier to find those documents.
